1How to fit

How should we measure your feet?

You can change this later.

2Your feet

Which size system do you use?

Pick the sizes you usually buy.

Men's or women's shoes?

This sets the usual width for your foot length. For a child, pick either.

What is your US men's shoe size?

EU sizes vary by brand; we use the standard conversion.

What width?

Not sure? Keep the standard width.

Which foot are you going to trace?

Note: if you upload only 1 foot we will mirror it to generate data for both feet

First, trace your feet

Do this for each foot. Press Next when you have your tracings.

How to trace your feet
  1. Use a sheet of paper at least 4 cm longer than your foot. US Letter fits feet up to about men's 8 or women's 9.5, A4 up to about men's 10 or women's 11.5. For bigger feet use US Legal or A3.
  2. Put the paper on a hard floor that is darker than the paper. Keep all 4 corners flat and in view. Don't tape over the corners.
  3. Stand on the paper with your full weight on that foot (hold a chair for balance). Ask someone to trace for you.
  4. Use a thick black marker. Hold it straight up, not tilted in or out, with the side of the pen touching your foot all the way around. Close the line at the heel.
  5. Don't draw anything inside the outline. Writing outside it (for example "L" or "R") is fine.
  6. Optional: measure across the body of the pen with a ruler. If you skip this, the page assumes a standard pen 8 mm wide.
  7. Take the photo from straight above, with all 4 corners of the paper in the photo and no shadow across the paper.
  8. Both feet on one sheet also works: use A3 or Tabloid, stand with the feet side by side at least 3 cm apart, and trace each foot with its own closed line (the lines must not touch).

What size paper did you use?

How wide is your pen? (optional)

You can skip this. If you leave it empty, we assume a standard pen 8 mm wide. For a closer fit, measure across the body of your pen with a ruler and type the width here. A thick marker is about 12 mm.

What happens to my photos?

We remove the photo's hidden data (location, camera, date) as soon as you open it. The photo never leaves your device and is gone when you close this page. Your photos, foot size and measurements are never sent to the AI design chat.

Add a photo of your right foot tracing

If both feet are on one sheet, this is already filled in. No right tracing? Press Next and your left tracing is used for both feet.

Side photos (optional)

A side photo lets the shoe follow the height of the top of your foot and your big toe. Without one, heights are averages for your foot length. Press Next to skip.

Side photo of the foot (optional)
  1. Stand barefoot on the floor. Put a bank card or ID card (85.6 × 54 mm) upright on its long edge on the floor, right behind your heel, with its flat face toward the camera. Lean it on something small so it stays up.
  2. Ask someone to take the photo from the big-toe side, with the phone on the floor about 50 cm away, pointing straight at your foot.
  3. Add it below and tap the 6 points the page asks for. The page checks the foot length in the photo against your tracing.
3What to make

What do you want to make?

Most people make fit frames first, to check the fit with less TPU.

What is a fit frame?

A fit frame is the shoe with windows cut out: a low rim around the sole, the heel cup, a strap over the toes, one over the ball of the foot, one over the top of the foot, and a strip along the top joining them. The tip of the toe is open. It uses about a quarter to a third less TPU than the shoe.

Print fit frames, put them on and stand up. If something is too tight or too loose, open "More adjustments" under your shoes on the last step, change it there, then make your shoes again.

4Sole and heel

How thick should the sole be?

Most people keep the thinnest sole, 1.9 mm.

Both feet

Do you want a heel lift?

A heel lift makes the sole thicker under the heel. The bottom stays flat. Most people keep 0.

      How to print

      • Material: TPU 95A. Print flat on the sole, with no supports.
      • The STL files are solid. The weight in the table is for printing solid. For a thick sole or a high heel lift, set infill in your slicer (for example 15–25 % gyroid).
      • Most shoe sizes are longer than 256 mm, so standard printers (Bambu P1/X1, Prusa MK4) are too small. You need a bed of about 330 mm or more.
      • Test print (toe only): the front of the same shoe, cut straight across just behind the toe cap, with the cut face closed. The toe cap is the hardest part of the shoe to print, so if the test piece prints well, the whole shoe will too. It also lets you check the room for your toes. It uses about a quarter of the TPU and fits on standard printers for most sizes.

How the fit is worked out

      • Every shoe, sandal and fit frame is the same boat shoe design, stretched to fit your foot.
      • Foot length comes from the US Brannock size scale (men's: foot length in inches = (size + 22) ÷ 3; women's size = men's size + 1.5).
      • Other size systems are matched to US sizes the way standard size charts do: UK = US men's − 0.5 (UK kids' 13.5 is followed by adult 1); US kids' 13.5C is followed by 1Y, and Y sizes equal men's sizes; EU: foot length (mm) = EU size × 20 ÷ 3 − 21, so EU 42.5 = US men's 9; Japan and Mondopoint: foot length = the size in mm − 7.5 mm, so 27 cm = US men's 9.
      • Ball width and heel width come from the US Army ANSUR II foot measurements of 4,082 men and 1,986 women, averaged for your foot length.
      • Widths run from 4A (extremely narrow) to 7E (extremely wide). Each width letter changes the width at the ball of the foot by 4.8 mm, where the Brannock width bar measures. The change fades to zero before the heel and before the toes.
      • Inside room added: 12 mm in front of the toes, 3 mm across the ball and 2 mm across the heel for a 214 mm foot (the size the base design was made for). The room grows and shrinks with foot length, so a longer foot gets more room and a shorter foot less.
      • The height of the shoe grows and shrinks with its width, so the slopes of the top stay close to the base design. The table shows the biggest slope change for your shoes.
      • The walls keep their thickness at every size.
      • A thicker sole is added straight down, so the bottom stays flat. Heel lift makes the sole thicker under the heel and fades to zero before the ball of the foot; the shoe above the sole tilts with it.
      • With a foot tracing, the inside of the shoe follows your traced outline: half the pen body width (8 mm if you don't enter one) is taken off the drawn line, then room is added on each side and in front of the toes (1–1.5 mm a side and 12 mm in front for a 214 mm foot, scaled with foot length). Small wobbles in the drawn line are smoothed out, so they don't show up as waves in the shoe. A side photo sets the height over the top of the foot and the big toe.
